Tips for job applications

Let us work together to secure tomorrow's energy today

Your first impression is a good opportunity for you.

After all, it’s the declared mission of RWE to demonstrate the “energy to lead” and to invest in the energy of the next generation. Moreover, when we talk about the “energy of the next generation”, our definition is deliberately wide – as wide as the bandwidth of our activities and thus your potential future tasks.

Are you interested in those tasks? If you enjoy a challenging job that gives you a full range of opportunities to translate your energy into personal success, then your application for a job at RWE may be an important first step in that direction. “You never have a second chance for a good first impression.” This is just as true for yourself as an applicant as it is for RWE as a company.

We’d like to introduce ourselves to you on our comprehensive careers website. If you have any questions, this is the place where you can find the right contacts who can provide further details or have a word with us in person at one of the events listed on our site.

Would you like to present yourself to us? Send us your job application and give us a clear picture of your skills and qualifications, your interests and your personality! Show us who you are and why you’d like to work for us. As you do so, we recommend that you follow a number of principles:

General tips for your job application

You should now be well prepared for your application. Please also note our tips on presenting a successful online application.

Tips for online applications

We prefer online applications. It should take you about 30 minutes to complete our online application form. When you do so, make sure you cover the following points.

Find a suitable job advert and click on “Apply”. Truthfully complete the application form. Use the specified selection boxes and plain text boxes to give us a comprehensive idea of yourself. The application wizard will present the following sections:

  • Personal Details
  • Education and Career
  • Internships, Work and International Experience
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Questionnaire
  • Covering Letter

Attach suitable files (e.g. CV, relevant certificates and reports) in formats that can be opened on a standard computer. Ideally, convert all Word documents to PDF files before sending them, making sure that they do not exceed 5 MB.

Regularly save the details you’ve entered. You can log in and out with your user name whenever you like.

Please note our General Tips for Job Applications (above) and don’t send your application until it is complete.

Tips for the further application process

If your application has been successful, you will be invited to an assessment center or interview, depending, from case to case, on the vacancy we are seeking to fill. Note the following three points for a job interview:

  • Make sure you prepare yourself well by reading widely about RWE and the power sector. You’ll find plenty of information on our website and in the press.
  • Find out, in particular, about the sphere of activity for which you are applying. Think of some comments you might make and questions you can ask.
  • Be aware of your personal aims and also your individual strengths and weaknesses. Ask yourself why RWE is the right employer for you and how you can make a contribution to our company.

An RWE assessment center usually takes one day and consists of various exercises that will help us gain a comprehensive idea of you. You will engage in these exercises together with other applicants while being observed by representatives of RWE.
