Denizli CCGT power plant

The Denizli natural-gas combined-cycle power plant is RWE's first investment in Turkey. It is operated by RWE & Turcas Güney Elektrik Üretim A.Ş, a joint venture between RWE and Turcas. RWE holds 70 per cent in the company, Turcas holds 30 per cent.

Since the 775-megawatt power plant was commissioned in 2013, it has covered the increasing energy demand in the region and has supplied around 3 million households’ demand equivalent electricity. It thus supplies approximately 1% of the electricity produced in the country.

The commissioning of the CCGT power plant not only makes a significant contribution to the long-term development of the city of Denizli and its surrounding area. This state-of-the-art power plant also contributes significantly to the security of electricity supply in Turkey by ensuring environmentally friendly and safe operation.

The power plant actively participates in the electricity market, both through bilateral contracts and in day-ahead and intraday trading. All regulatory and commercial risks are successfully managed, enabling the power plant to contribute efficiently to meeting Turkey's electricity demand throughout the year.
